Escape with STEM

Escape with STEM was created by Brennan O’Yeung, a Schulich School of Engineering student, and his father, William. Escape with STEM is a non-profit organization that utilizes STEM based “escape room/locked room” puzzles and experiences to inspire students to explore STEM related education and career opportunities. Actua

This national organisation is dedicated to providing STEM opportunities to youth all across Canada. Working relentlessly with its national network of over 40 universities and colleges, Actua works to remove the barriers within youth engagement in STEM both on the ground and at a systems level. Actua provides training, resources and support in the delivery of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education outreach programming. Each year, Actua and its network members engage over 375,000 youth in 600 communities across Canada.

Let’s Talk Science

Hands on and minds on science learning programs for early learners to high school students, delivered by trained volunteers and science educators. There are Let’s Talk Science programs at the University of Lethbridge, University of Calgary, and University of Alberta, available to bring fun programs to your classroom.

Minds in Motion

Based at the University of Calgary and a network member of Actua, this innovative program is dedicated to encouraging youth K-12 to explore science, engineering, and technology through hands-on, inquiry based activities and projects. Minds in Motion offers high quality and interactive barrier-free classroom workshops throughout Southern Alberta, over a dozen different STEM-based summer day camps, dedicated STEM/coding-based fall and winter saturday clubs, along with participating in various community events in the Calgary area.

FIRST Robotics - Alberta

FIRST Robotics combines the excitement of pro sports with hands-on science and technology.  Remotely controlled robots designed, built, and piloted by students go head to head in fierce but friendly battles, cheered on by thousands of screaming fans.  Teams work with mentors to explore new technology, design and build a kick-butt robot to compete in the tournament.  No prior knowledge necessary – just enthusiasm and a commitment to your team is needed.

DiscoverE

High-impact classroom workshops, unique clubs and events, and engaging summer camps for kids in science and engineering. DiscoverE programs are based out of the University of Alberta, and reach over 50 communities across the Edmonton area, northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

Shad Valley

A four-week summer enrichment program for top students in grades 10, 11, and 12 from across Canada. Shad Valley combines workshops in science, engineering, technology, and entrepreneurship with team-building adventures and challenges. Participants spend a month living at one of the host universities across Canada, while making lifelong friends, completing fun new challenges, and gaining a competitive advantage for their future.

MindFuel

MindFuel is an education technology leader that brings STEM to life, both inside and outside the K-12 classroom. They offer STEM learning products, project-based learning programs developed by teachers, for teachers, and engaging programs for students.
