Cybermentor offers a variety of outreach workshops on STEAM and diversity topics.
Virtual Escape Room: Biodiversity Scientist Rescue
Age 10-15+ (grades 5-9+)
1.5-2 hours
Go through each bioregion of Alberta, collect the clues, use your knowledge of biodiversity, and rescue your mentor! Learn about the bison reintroduction program, biodiversity index, species trophic levels, dichotomous keys, identifying native plants, and fishing regulations. Put on your ecologist and biologist hat, and save your mentor before it’s too late!

Virtual Escape Room: Escape the Cybermentor STEAM Lab

Test your logic, chemistry, poetry, and cryptanalysis skills. Work as a team to make it through each of the puzzles, clues, and riddles and do your best to escape the Cybermentor STEAM Factory!

Virtual Escape Room: Escape the ER
Age 10-18+ (grades 5-12+)

Test your logic and medical knowledge! Determine the blood types of each patient, give them the correct blood type from the blood bank, and save their lives!

Virtual Escape Room: Escape the Schulich School of Engineering
Age 10-18+ (grades 5-12+)
1.5-2 hours
You’ve gotten lost in the University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering during a tour, and in order to catch up with your group you need to visit different presentations by professors and solve their puzzles! Learn about different fields of engineering, research being conducted by incredible women in STEM, and apply your knowledge of math, chemistry, physics, and biology to see what it’s like to solve real world problems with engineering skills.

Diversity in STEAM Workshop
Age 10-Adult (grades 5+)
1.5-2 hours
In this interactive workshop, participants will explore issues of identity, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the context of the science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) community. Participants will be challenged to reflect upon their unconscious biases and be given resources for continuing to learn about social justice issues within the STEAM community.
